Julian Hubbard trained at the Royal College of Music and The National Opera Studio and was generously supported by the Peter Moores Foundation and the Scottish Opera Endowment Fund. He studies privately with Janice Chapman. 
 
Julian Hubbard’s opera roles include Fiorello IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA for English National Opera, Schaunard LA BOHEME for Scottish Opera, Huntsman in the new production of RUSALKA for Théâtre Royal de La Monnaie, Duke of Nottingham ROBERTO DEVEREUX for Opera Holland Park, Melisso ALCINA for Opera Theatre Company, Aeneas DIDO AND AENEAS, Pinellino in the Benjamin Britten International Opera School production of Puccini’s GIANNI SCHICCHI, Ned Keene PETER GRIMES for Kent Opera Youth, Hel Helson PAUL BUNYAN for APU Opera in Cambridge, Guglielmo COSI FAN TUTTE, Mercutio ROMEO ET JULIETTE for British Youth Opera, Drunken Poet/Hymen FAIRY QUEEN at the Aldeburgh Festival 2005, Mr Gedge ALBERT HERRING at the Britten Weekend at Aldeburgh and in  the world premiere of ANOTHER AMERICA: FIRE by Errollyn Wallen at Sadler’s Wells. He sang Dr. Falke DIE FLEDERMAUS and Dandini LA CENERENTOLA for Scottish Opera, Guglielmo COSI FAN TUTTE for Garden Opera and Castleward Opera and Juan in Henze’s DAS WUNDERTHEATER at the Montepulciano Festival.
 
Recent solo concert performances include a Schumann concert series for Opera Theatre Company, Fauré and Duruflé REQUIEMS, Brahms EIN DEUTSCHES REQUIEM, Mendelssohn’s ELIJAH; Rossini PETITE MESSE SOLENNELLE, Handel’s MESSIAH, Schubert WINTERREISE, Bach’s ST MATTHEW PASSION and Britten’s WAR REQUIEM in a semi-staged performance directed by Kim Begley. He also works extensively as a recitalist, including performances at the Wigmore Hall and Snape Maltings. Julian has also performed on BBC Radio 3 “In Tune”. 
 
Engagements in 2012 include Cappadocian SALOME and Huntsman RUSALKA for Théâtre Royal de La Monnaie.
