Constance Novis graduated from the University of Toronto, Canada with a degree in music. She currently studies with Marie McLaughlin and has vocal coaching with Ludmilla Andrew.
Constance Novis has a wide repertoire including title role JENUFA, Freia DAS RHEINGOLD, Helmwige DIE WALKÜRE, Tatyana EUGENE ONEGIN, Marguerite FAUST, Donna Elvira DON GIOVANNI, The Fox THE CUNNING LITTLE VIXEN, Aksinya LADY MACBETH OF MTSENSK, The Lace Seller DEATH IN VENICE, Berta THE BARBER OF SEVILLE, Micaëla CARMEN, both Mimì and Musetta LA BOHÈME, Cio-Cio-San MADAMA BUTTERFLY, title role TOSCA, Irene RIENZI, title role SUOR ANGELICA, Fiordiligi COSÌ FAN TUTTE, Pamina DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE, Rosalinda DIE FLEDERMAUS, Violetta LA TRAVIATA, Leonora IL TROVATORE, Lady Macbeth MACBETH, Leonora OBERTO, the ENO’s world première of John Buller’s THE BACCHAE and Marilyn Monroe AND THE BRIDGE IS LOVE (Dempster). She has appeared with English National Opera, English Touring Opera, Opera Holland Park, Castleward Opera, London City Opera, Crystal Clear Opera, Cambridge Touring Opera, Longborough Festival Opera, Amici di Verdi at the Linbury Theatre at The Royal Opera House, The Mastersingers, Broomhill Opera, Armonico Consort, English Festival Opera, the Ulster Orchestra and Covent Garden Festival.
Engagements abroad include The Lace Seller DEATH IN VENICE at La Monnaie, the Concertgebouw, Amsterdam, and Theatre de Ville, Luxembourg, Wexford Festival Opera, Micaëla CARMEN and Mimì LA BOHÈME for Opera Ireland, Pamina DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE with London City Opera on a tour of the USA, SUOR ANGELICA at the National Concert Hall, Dublin, Violetta LA TRAVIATA on tour in France with Théâtre d’Evreux, Cio-Cio-San MADAMA BUTTERFLY at the Ulster Opera House and in Bangkok and Kuwait, the title role in TOSCA with Co-Opera at the Theatre Royal Waterford and on tour in Ireland. She has also studied Janácek soprano roles (Katja Kabanova, Jenufa, Fox) with Elisabeth Söderström and Sir Charles Mackerras at the Britten-Pears School, Aldeburgh and covered Kera THE MINOTAUR for Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.
Constance Novis’ concert engagements include Handel MESSIAH, Rossini PETITE MESSE SOLENNELLE, Beethoven MISSA SOLEMNIS, Brahms REQUIEM, Gounod ST CECILIA MASS, Stravinsky LES NOCES, Verdi REQUIEM, Dvorák REQUIEM, the Poulenc GLORIA, Mendelssohn SAINT PAUL, Last Night Of The Proms concerts and New Year’s Eve, Verdi and Viennese Galas at the Royal Festival Hall, the Queen Elizabeth Hall, the Fairfield Halls, and in many regional halls throughout the UK. She has also sung on tour with the Flanders Symphony Orchestra in Belgium and European Chamber Opera and with the Michael Clark Company singing the role of Bride in Stavinsky’s LES NOCES at the Barbican in London and in the Lincoln Centre New York City. Recordings include Matilda in David Reeves’ BECKET - THE KISS OF PEACE with James Bowman and David Wilson-Johnson under the direction of Dr Martin Neary, which she premiered at the Canterbury Festival. She also appeared as the opera singer Cora Bellinger in the first series of Granada Television’s series Jeeves & Wooster with Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie.
Recent engagements include The Lace Seller DEATH IN VENICE at La Scala, Milan and a series of recitals.
