FIONA MCANDREW
Soprano

Fiona McAndrew is a native of Ireland but grew up in Australia where she graduated from the University of Western Australia with first class honours.  She completed her singing studies on the opera course at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, London where she won numerous awards.

She has sung major roles with Wexford Festival Opera, English Touring Opera, Opera Ireland, Opera Holland Park, Pimlico Opera, European Chamber Opera, Sächsische Staatsoper Dresden, Lyric Opera San Antonio, Texas, Teatro Rossini, Lugo, Italy, Central Festival Opera, Teatro Communale, Bologna Opera Theatre Company, Dublin and Castleward Opera and for festivals such Covent Garden Festival, Rossini Opera Festival, Pesaro, Sechs Tage Oper, Dusseldorf and the Belfast Festival.
 
She is a fine exponent of 20th century and contemporary works including the creation of new soprano roles for Opera Theatre Company and the Théâtre Poème, Brussels and sang the Hoher Sopran in the first live performance of Steve Reich’s TEHILLIM in Dresden. She has sung in concert with the Ulster Orchestra, the Northern Sinfonia, Newcastle, the San Antonio Symphony Orchestra, the BBC Concert Orchestra and with the RTE Concert Orchestra, Dublin.
 

Engagements in the 2011/12 season include Sister Rose DEAD MAN WALKING for the Dresden Semperoper
