ALLA KRAVCHUK
Soprano

Alla Kravchuk was born in the Ukraine and studied at the Kiev Conservatoire with Natalie Zakharchenko and later in London with Vera Rozsa.  She now lives in the UK, after being based in Germany as soloist with the Niedersächsische Staatstheater, Hannover with whom she appeared at the Edinburgh International Festival as Mélisande PELLÉAS ET MÉLISANDE. 
 
Engagements in Hannover have included Cleopatra GIULIO CESARE, Pamina DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE, Micaela CARMEN, Zerlina DON GIOVANNI and Susanna LE NOZZE DI FIGARO Mimi LA BOHÈME, Ilia IDOMENEO Queen of the Moon in Offenbach’s JOURNEY TO THE MOON, Lola CAVALLERIA RUSTICANA, Nedda PAGLIACCI, Liu TURANDOT, Maria BARTERED BRIDE and title role THE MERRY WIDOW and DIE LUSTIGE WITWE Princess L’ENFANT ET LES SORTILÈGES, Proserpina LA FAVOLA D’ORFEO, Heavenly Voice DON CARLOS and Antonia LES CONTES D’HOFFMANN. For Staatsoper Stuttgart her performances include Euridice ORPHEO ED EURIDICE, Liu TURANDOT and Mélisande PELLÉAS ET MÉLISANDE. She has also sung for Dresden Semperoper, Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Theatre Freiburg, Theatre Kiel, Staatstheater Nürnberg, Staatstheater Wiesbaden and the Nationaltheater Weimar.  Prior to taking up her position in Germany Ms Kravchuk sang Pamina for Mid Wales Opera, Giorgetta IL TABARRO for Clonter Opera, Amina LA SONNAMBULA for Castleward Opera, Tatyana EUGENE ONEGIN for First Act Opera, Adina L’ELISIR D’AMORE for Diva Opera, Norina DON PASQUALE, Mélisande PELLÉAS ET MÉLISANDE at the Würtembergische Staatstheater Stuttgart and title role LINDA DI CHAMOUNIX for Opera Omnibus - she also won the soprano prize at the Llangollen International Eisteddfod in 1995.
 
Alla Kravchuk also has an extensive concert repertoire including Haydn NELSON MASS at London’s South Bank, THE CREATION with the Academy of Oxford, Mozart MASS IN C at Westminster Central Hall, MESSIAH for Hull Choral Society and Dvořák STABAT MATER for Bridgewater Choral Society and Petersfield Festival.  Her repertoire further includes Bach ST JOHN and ST MATTHEW PASSIONS, Mozart REQUIEM, Brahms EIN DEUTSCHES REQUIEM, Rossini STABAT MATER and PETITE MESSE SOLENNELLE, Poulenc STABAT MATER, Britten WAR REQUIEM, and Schubert MASS in A flat.   Alla has broadcast on BBC Radio 3 and 4 and also recorded the television production NATALKA POLTAVKA by the Ukrainian composer Mychola Lysenko.
