LEE BISSET
Soprano

Scottish soprano Lee Bisset studied at the Royal Northern College of Music, and the National Opera Studio where she was sponsored by English National Opera. She also trained for several years in Italy. She has won the Joyce and Michael Kennedy Strauss Prize, the Webster Booth Award, the Dame Eva Turner Award for Dramatic Sopranos, and a Susan Chilcott Scholarship. In 2005 she represented Scotland at the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World. 
 
Her roles include Sieglinde DIE WALKÜRE, title role TOSCA, Fiordiligi COSI FAN TUTTE, Violetta LA TRAVIATA, Tatyana EUGENE ONEGIN, both Donna Anna and Donna Elvira DON GIOVANNI, Michaela CARMEN, Governess TURN OF THE SCREW, Pat Nixon NIXON IN CHINA, Jenůfa JENUFA, Alice Ford FALSTAFF, Rosalinda DIE FLEDERMAUS, Nedda I PAGLIACCI and Eva in a concert performance of DIE MEISTERSINGER VON NURNBERG. For English National Opera she has sung Karolka JENUFA, First Lady THE MAGIC FLUTE and Mimi LA BOHEME. She recently performed a selection of new operas in FIVE:15 for Scottish Opera.
 
In concert Lee has sung: Beethoven MISSA SOLEMNIS, Dvořak STABAT MATER, Handel SAMSON and MESSIAH, Mendelssohn ELIJAH, Mozart REQUIEM, Verdi REQUIEM, Strauss VIER LEZTE LIEDER, Wagner WESENDONCK LIEDER and has performed gala concerts at venues including the Royal Albert Hall, St John’s Smith Square and Liverpool Echo Arena. 
 
Performances in the 2011/12 season include the title role TOSCA for Northern Ireland Opera and Opera Memphis, Freia DAS RHINEGOLD for Opera North, Sieglinde DIE WALKÜRE for Opèra São Paulo, title role KATYA KABANOVÁ for Opera Project and Gutrune GÖTTERDÄMMERUNG for Longborough Festival Opera. Future performances include returns Opera Memphis and the Longborough Festival for their Ring Cycle in 2013.
