ILONA DOMNICH
Soprano

Ilona Domnich was born in St. Petersburg, and studied at the Royal College of Music. She was discovered by Vera Rozsa who invited her to join the RCM after hearing her at a vocal masterclass. She went on to win the prestigious Wingate Scholarship and has been working with Enid Hartle, Yvonne Kenny, Joan Rodgers, Susan Roberts and Ludmilla Andrew.
 
Her operatic roles include Gilda RIGOLETTO at Bury Court and the Anghiari and Ischia Festivals in Italy, Blonde DIE ENTFÜHRUNG AUS DEM SERAIL at Dartington Opera School, Zerlina DON GIOVANNI and Pamina DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE for English Touring Opera, Countess LE NOZZE DI FIGARO for Co Opera, Tatiana EUGENE ONEGIN for Iford Arts Festival, Venus THE JUDGMENT OF PARIS at the Wigmore Hall, Mimi LA BOHÈME for Vignette Productions in London, Cambridge and festivals in France as well as Madam Herz DER SCHAUSPIELDIREKTOR, Colombina THE JEWEL BOX and Lisetta LA VERA COSTANZA.
 
On the concert platform she has performed at the Wigmore Hall, St. Martin-in-the-Fields, St. James' Piccadilly, St. George's Hanover Square and in St. Petersburg, Paris, Jersey and Jerusalem for orchestras including the LSO, BBC Concert Orchestra and Southbank Sinfonia. She has performed Chopin recitals with Angela Hewitt and various broadcasts for BBC Radio including Poulenc’s LA VOIX HUMAINE earlier this season. Her repertoire includes Mozart's MASS IN C MINOR, Mendelssohn's ELIJAH, Mahler's 2nd SYMPHONY, Verdi's REQUIEM, Faure’s REQUIEM, Dvorak’s TE DEUM, Strauss’ BRENTANO SONGS, Poulenc's LA VOIX HUMAINE, Shostakovich’s 14th SYMPHONY and Beethoven’s 9th SYMPHONY. She has made many recordings including her own solo album Le Secret which she recorded on the Quarts label in 2009.

Engagements in 2012 include a concert for the BBC Concert Orchestra at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, Tatiana EUGENE ONEGIN for Grange Park Opera at Nevill Holt, Mozart's C MINOR MASS and Poulenc’s GLORIA at the Seillans Festival and concerts with the Southbank Sinfonia. She will also cover the roles of Stella / Olympia / Antonia / Giulietta in the new production of LES CONTES D’HOFFMANN for English National Opera.
