ZHENGZHONG ZHOU
Baritone

Chinese baritone ZhengZhong Zhou studied at Shanghai Conservatory of Music and at CNIPAL (Centre national d’insertion professionnelle d’artistes lyriques) in Marseille. He has participated in a masterclass with Carlo Bergonzi. Awards include first prize for opera, second prize for French song and a CNIPAL scholarship in the Marmande International Singing Competition.

Opera includes Morales CARMEN and Count LE NOZZE DI FIGARO for Shanghai Conservatory of Music, chorus CARMEN and chorus KUANGXUE in China, Ambrogio IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA in China and Japan, UN CONTE DE NOËL for CNIPAL at the opera houses of Avignon, Marseille and Toulon and Lackey DER ROSENKAVALIER at Opéra de Marseille. He has sung in concert with L’Orchestre Régional de Cannes PACA and in recital at the opera houses of Avignon, Marseille and Toulon as well as in a Radio Classique broadcast from Théâtre Mogador, Paris.
 
He joined the Jette Parker Young Artists Programme in September 2010 and made his Royal Opera debut as Marullo RIGOLETTO. His other roles in the 2010/11 season are Paris ROMÉO ET JULIETTE, Runner ANNA NICOLE, Bruehlmann WERTHER, Sciarrone TOSCA, Yamadori MADAMA BUTTERFLY and cover Mercutio ROMÉO ET JULIETTE and will cover Albert WERTHER. His roles in the 2011/12 season include Valentin FAUST, Marullo RIGOLETTO, Second Nazarene SALOME, Geronimo IL VIAGGIO A REIMS (JPYAP 10th Anniversary Summer Performance) and cover Count Almaviva LE NOZZE DI FIGARO and Marcello LA BOHÈME for The Royal Opera, Fauré REQUIEM for The Royal Ballet and Des Grieux LE PORTRAIT DE MANON as well as an appearance in LES NUITS D’ÉTÉ in the staged production during Meet the Young Artists Week in the Linbury.
