Benjamin Cahn was born in Washington DC and studied Vocal Performance and Environmental Studies at Oberlin College and Conservatory of Music in Ohio. After finishing university he moved to Nottingham, England to study singing with Michelle Wegwart, Professor of Voice, Opéra national de Paris. Benjamin holds a Masters Degree in Music from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama where he received full scholarship. In the same year he was also a participant on the Opera Works Young Singers Programme at English National Opera.

Recent engagements include Second Mate in BILLY BUDD for Glyndebourne Festival Opera, Zuniga CARMEN for Raymond Gubbay at the Royal Albert Hall, Carvalho in THE YELLOW SOFA (Julian Phillips) for the Jerwood Young Artist programme at Glyndebourne Festival Opera and Glyndebourne on Tour, including the Royal Opera House Linbury Theatre, Customs Officer LA BOHEME for Glyndebourne Festival Opera and Glyndebourne on Tour, a triple bill of puppet opera with Third Hand for which the company received 'Best Opera' at the 2013 Off West End Awards. For British Youth Opera he has performed the roles of Colline LA BOHEME and Filiberto IL SIGNOR BRUSCHINO. He has also performed roles including Angelotti TOSCA, Der Sprecher DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE, Seneca L’INCORONAZIONE DI POPPEA, Dr. Miracle LES CONTES D’HOFFMANN, Don Alfonso COSI FAN TUTTE, Doctor Grenville LA TRAVIATA, Frank DIE FLEDERMAUS and Leporello DON GIOVANNI. He has also covered the role of Masetto for both Glyndebourne Festival Opera and English National Opera.

On the concert platform Benjamin has sung the Mozart Requiem at the Royal Festival Hall with the English Chamber Orchestra and at the Birmingham Symphony Hall with the Orchestra of the Swan. He recently made his Barbican debut singing Beethoven Symphony 9 with the Philharmonia Orchestra. He has also sung the Faure Requiem, Rossini Petite Messe Solennelle, Mozart Mass in C Minor and the Haydn Coronation Mass.

In 2014 Benjamin's engagements include Second Mate in BILLY BUDD at the Brooklyn Academy of Music with Glyndebourne Festival Opera, Figaro in THE MARRIAGE OF FIGARO with ENO Opera Squad, Marchese d'Obigny in LA TRAVIATA with Glyndebourne on Tour, and cover Marchese and Notary DER ROSENKAVALIER for Glyndebourne Festival Opera.
